Kansas City Chiefs superstars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce have once again earned the prestigious honor of being inducted into the Madden NFL 2025 “99 Club,” marking their place among the top players in the league.
The announcement was made on Friday, August 2nd, and the dynamic duo joined an elite group of just five players to receive the coveted 99 overall rating this year.
The “99 Club” is a hallmark of greatness in the Madden video game franchise, awarded only to players who display exceptional skills and dominance on the field.
Along with Mahomes and Kelce, San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey, 49ers left tackle Trent Williams, and Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill also made the list.
For Patrick Mahomes, this marks his fourth time earning a spot in the “99 Club” over the last five years, further cementing his status as one of the NFL’s most talented quarterbacks. Kelce, the league’s most dominant tight end, was also inducted for his extraordinary performances. The Chiefs’ official social media account shared an unboxing video of both Mahomes and Kelce celebrating their new honors.
In the video, Mahomes and Kelce were gifted several personalized items that reflected their off-field interests. Each received a glass-encased “99” player card and a gold Xbox controller. Mahomes, a well-known avid golfer, was also presented with a custom golf set, including a golden putter. “Handicap is going down for sure using this,” Mahomes said excitedly.
Kelce’s gifts included a golden microphone, a nod to his highly popular podcast “New Heights,” which he co-hosts with his brother, Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce. Kelce proudly unboxed the golden mic, hinting at its future use on the podcast. He also received a pair of gold golf balls, which he jokingly acknowledged he would likely lose quickly on the course.
Both Mahomes and Kelce are recognized not only for their success on the football field but also for their passion for golf. The two have regularly competed in high-profile events, including the American Century Championship, a celebrity golf tournament held at Lake Tahoe. In June 2023, Mahomes and Kelce teamed up to defeat NBA stars Steph Curry and Klay Thompson in “The Match,” a celebrity golf event that pitted the Chiefs stars against the Warriors duo.
As members of the “99 Club,” Mahomes and Kelce once again solidify their legacies in both football and popular culture. Their induction into the exclusive Madden club is a testament to their hard work, leadership, and undeniable talent, and they will look to continue proving their “99-worthy” status throughout the upcoming NFL season.
