Jay-Z’s champagne brand Armand de Brignac has announced its first vintage offering, called Blanc de Noirs Vintage 2015.
A 1.5L magnum bottle — a limited edition item — will retail for $3,400 starting in November, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The 54-year-old rapper-turned-mogul’s — who is married to Beyoncé — beverage brand produced a scarce 1,258 bottles, which were complete with French pewter labels applied by hand.
The wine rested in cellars for over seven years before it was discharged on February 8, per the publication.
Blanc de Noirs Vintage 2015 blends flavors including notes of almond, cinnamon, plum, strawberries, and clementine.
There is also a touch of violet flower in the rich pour, described as a ‘symphony of flavors.’
The brand teased that a single sip ends in a ‘pleasing and elegant length, leaving hints of gingerbread, orange, and the refined essence of licorice.’
Its taste reflects 2015’s weather, which consisted of a rainy spring and dry, warm summer.
The new drink joins other Armand de Brignac offerings, which include Demi-Sec, a Gold Brut, Rosé, Blanc de Blancs, and Blanc de Noirs Assemblage No. 4.
It comes after three years ago Jay-Z, born Shawn Carter, sold a 50% stake to Moët Hennessy, the wine and spirits branch of LVMH.
Carter’s longtime partner, entertainer and entrepreneur Beyoncé, launched a whiskey called SirDavis in August.
The brand name pays homage to the star’s paternal great-grandfather, Davis Hogue, who was a successful moonshiner based in the south during Prohibition.
Announcing her latest endeavor two months ago, she said, ‘I’ve always been drawn to the power and confidence I feel when drinking quality whiskey and wanted to invite more people to experience that feeling,’
The singer-songwriter continued, ‘When I discovered that my great-grandfather had been a moonshine man, it felt like my love for whiskey was fated. SirDavis is a way for me to pay homage to him, uniting us through a new shared legacy.
‘In partnering with Moët Hennessy, we have crafted a delicious American whiskey that respects tradition but also empowers people to experience something new and unique in the category. You can taste it better than I could ever tell you — welcome, SirDavis.’
The spirit gives a nod to Beyonce’s Texas roots with a horse logo and it was finished, blended and bottled in the state.
‘Here the complexity of rye is married with the elegance of malted barley. Finished to perfection in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, a harmony of spice with sublime hints of fruit,’ the website describes.
